Fortezza da Basso is a one-of-a-kind location, a masterpiece of the Renaissance, located right in the heart of Florence. Since its opening as a Congress Center, Fortezza Da Basso has combined the Medici Family’s buildings with state-of-the-art technologies. The historic and the contemporary buildings, each one with its own atmosphere and history, offer a range of spaces that can host any kind of event whether it is a convention, a congress, or even a smaller meeting.

The 19th-century Villa Vittoria houses Palazzo dei Congressi and its prestigious meeting spaces. The Auditorium in the basement can host up to 1000 guests with its 920sqm foyer as exhibition and catering area; on the other four floors of the Villa, there are several rooms ranging between 15-70 delegates (Onice Room) and 200 delegates (Verde Room). Palazzo dei Congressi and its Limonaia (the Orangery)  are surrounded by a century-old park connecting the Villa with Palazzo degli Affari which are both five-minute walking from Fortezza da Basso. These three facilities represent the Exhibition and Congress Centre right in the City centre and in close proximity to the main hotels and attractions.

Palazzo degli Affari was built in 1974 by the Architect Pierluigi Spadolini. After almost 50 years, the building was completely renovated, and it reopened to the general public in July 2022. Nowadays, Palazzo degli Affari is a cutting-edge facility for state-of-the-art congresses and events. It is located a few steps away from Santa Maria Novella Railway Station in the heart of Florence. This 4.000sqm building can host any kind of event guaranteeing comfort and flexibility in its multifunctional meeting rooms. Last but not least, Palazzo degli Affari is now a first-class congress and event facility with new accessibility criteria, eco-chic furniture and renewable energy engineering processes.

Discover Firenze

Florence needs no introduction. The capital of Tuscany is one of the most important cities of art in our country and beyond, a true historical and artistic point of reference on a global level. The beauties of Florence are known to all, and therefore it is not surprising that over 10 million tourists choose to stay in the city every year.

Some of the most famous art museums in Italy are concentrated in Florence, among which the Uffizi Gallery stands out, which records over 4 million admissions every year, alongside illustrious names such as the Galleria dell'Accademia, the Bargello museum, the Medici Chapels and much more.

But not only art and culture: Florence is also synonymous with gastronomic excellence, good food and excellent wine. Get lost in the streets of the historic center, leaving for a moment the ones most frequented by tourists, and you will discover a hidden Florence made of small taverns, cheap restaurants and wine shops, where you can taste excellent local wine in rustic Florentine environments, made of laughter, conviviality and popular music. But even if you want to stay within the tourist routes, in Florence you will definitely have a lot to see.

From the splendid Piazza del Duomo, where the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is located, with the iconic Brunelleschi dome and Giotto's bell tower, passing through Piazza Signoria, where Palazzo Vecchio, the seat of the municipality of Florence, is located, until arriving in the magnificent Piazza Santa Croce, you will constantly have the impression of being in an open-air museum, made of works of art and magnificent monuments.

After all, it was in Florence that the Renaissance developed, thanks also, and above all, to the Medici family, who ruled the city for centuries and who still make people talk about them today, given that their contribution is practically everywhere in the city: just think of the immense Palazzo Pitti, their ancient city residence, with the Boboli Gardens behind it, or the Vasari Corridor, originally a secret and private passage between Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti, today transformed into a very long art gallery.

Finally, remember that Florence is small, you can get around well on foot, but there are so many things to see that many tourists underestimate it, and when they understand that a weekend is not enough to visit it, they decide to return. It is still a good strategy to let yourself be won over by the city and enjoy it several times, perhaps even at different times of the year.
