Rovigo

Rovigo is a peaceful town in the Veneto region, located between the Adige and Po rivers, in the heart of the Polesine area. With medieval origins, it preserves an elegant historic center featuring architectural landmarks such as the towers of the ancient castle, Palazzo Roverella, and numerous churches. Rovigo is also an important cultural hub, home to significant museums and art exhibitions. Surrounded by rich and fertile countryside, the city offers a relaxed and authentic atmosphere and is an excellent starting point for exploring the Po Delta and the surrounding natural areas.

Also noteworthy is “La Rotonda,” officially the Church of the Blessed Virgin of Succour, an architectural gem with unique charm. Built between 1594 and 1606 based on a design by architect Francesco Zamberlan, a student of Palladio, it stands out for its octagonal layout — a symbol of divine perfection and closely linked to Marian devotion.

In the surroundings of Rovigo, there are several villas inspired by Palladian architecture, reflecting the spread of Venetian Renaissance style throughout the Polesine. Among the most renowned is Villa Badoer in Fratta Polesine, designed by Andrea Palladio in 1556 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
