Asti

Asti is an elegant city in Piedmont, located in the heart of the Monferrato hills, renowned for its medieval history, fine wines, and centuries-old traditions. An ancient Roman center (Augusta Astorum), the city reached its peak during the Middle Ages when it became one of the most powerful and wealthy communes in northern Italy.

Today, Asti captivates visitors with its well-preserved historic center, where you can admire medieval towers, noble palaces, and Romanesque churches such as the splendid Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Among its most famous events is the Palio di Asti, one of Italy’s oldest horse races, held every September in Piazza Alfieri with a captivating historical reenactment.

Asti is also internationally renowned for its wines, especially Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti, perfect to enjoy in the many wineries and agriturismos in the area. The city is a must-visit destination for those wishing to combine art, food and wine, and tradition within one of Piedmont’s most beautiful hilly landscapes.
