The city lies in the upper Lombard plain and is crossed by the Lambro River. It has a typical subcontinental climate found in the Po Valley, though with milder winters, less oppressive summers, and generally lower humidity due to its elevation and proximity to the Alps.
Among the treasures within Monza’s city limits, its magnificent park deserves special mention: covering approximately 685 hectares, it is the largest walled historical park in Europe. Together with the gardens of the nearby Royal Villa (Villa Reale), it represents a true gem for both residents and visitors.
The Monza Park is also well known among Formula 1 fans around the world, as its racetrack has hosted the Italian Grand Prix for over 90 years. Since 1922, the race has been held here 78 times out of a total of 86. The Grand Prix is a major event that drives the organization of numerous other activities. It takes place on the second Sunday of September, and every year during this period, Monza warmly welcomes thousands of tourists by offering a wide range of parallel events.
